Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival Day
Personal welcome at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to your hotel in the tourist district of Thamel. After a short briefing on our trip plans you will be able to go out to explore the local temples and markets.
Day 2 - Kathmandu City Tour
After breakfast we will tour the city, visiting many of the “City of Temples” historic landmarks including Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, and the stunning Boudhanath Stupa.
Day 3 - Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by Private 4WD
From Kathmandu we will take a private four-wheel-drive vehicle to the start of the trail at the busy market town of Syabrubesi. The drive is very scenic as we travel through the rural farming communities and slowly climb higher up into the Himalayas. 8 hours driving.
Day 4 - Syabrubesi to Rimche
As we leave Syabrubesi we will cross a couple of huge swing bridges before starting to climb our way up the valley towards the mountains. This will be our hardest days walking but you will hardly notice as the trail twists and turns through the beautiful dense forests that line these mountains slopes. after a good days walking we will have time to rest our feet when we stop at the village of Rimche for the night. 8 hours trekking.
Day 5 - Rimche to Langtang Village
Our second days walk will continue to follow the ancient trail that Nepalis have been using to access the fertile mountain valleys to graze their Yaks for hundreds of years. As we gain altitude we will pass through pine and then the stunning Rhododendron forests that are iconic to Nepal. As we approach the village of Langtang you will still be able to see reminders of the devastating Ghorka Earthquake of 2015. On the old site of Langtang village there is a beautiful memorial that pays tribute to those lost in this event and also to remind us of the power of nature and the mountains around you. 6 hours trekking.
Day 6 - Langtang Village to Kyanjin Ghompa
Todays trail gradually climbs up through the mountain meadows where Yaks graze at the feet of the towering peaks that line the valley. We pass through small herders villages before arriving at Kyanjin Gompa where we will stay for the next two nights. 4 hours trekking.
Day 7 - Kyanjin Ri or Tsergo Ri
Today you have the choice to relax and soak up the mountain scenery or to climb one of the adjacent peaks to get yourself a better view. Either way we will also have time to visit the local monastery and traditional Yak cheese factory.
Day 8 - Kyanjin to Lama Hotel
We will head back down the valley today and you’ll love how easy it feels to descend after climbing up to this high altitude. With the spring in your step we will easily make it back down to Lama Hotel for the night. 6 hours trekking.
Day 9 - Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi
On our last days trekking we will take a slight detour via the vantage point of Sherpa Gaun before dropping down into the valley and back to Syabrubesi. 6 hours trekking.
Day 10 - Syabrubesi to Kathmandu by Private 4WD
Return 8 hour drive back to Kathmandu in our private vehicle. We will meet up for a final dinner together before we have to say goodbye.
Day 11 - Departure Day
Transfer to Kathmandu Airport.
