Introductory courses are scheduled throughout the year, ranging from the 5 to 10 day Discover Buddhism courses to more topic orientated short courses, which give you an deeper insight into one particular topic.

Discover Buddhism Courses (5 - 10 days)

The Discover Buddhism courses give you an overview over Tibetan Buddhist principles and meditations in the form of the Lam Rim,  the complete path to Enlightenment.  They are offered as a ten-day, seven-day or five-day course for those who only have a short time in Nepal. The ten day course includes a two day silent retreat, perfect to get experience in meditation in a supportive, conducive environment. Or choose the 7-day or compact 5 -day course which might suit your time frame better. 

Your daily schedule begins at 6.30 am and finishes at 9 pm with the evening meditation. Participants are required to attend all sessions. Silence is kept from 10 pm till after lunch the next day to help to keep the mind focused on the course.  The daily schedule includes sessions of meditation, teachings and discussion groups. The course leaders as well as the Tibetan lamas of the monastery, are available for personal guidance.

How to Meditate Course (6 days)

This Buddhist Meditation Course is designed for complete beginners, and is presented within the context of the Tibetan Mahayana Buddhist tradition.

The course provides an overview of meditation and introduces basic meditation techniques such as watching the breath, mindfulness, visualisation with mantra recitation, and analytical meditation, some historic back ground on meditation, and - most important - practical experience of meditation.

he first part will give an overview of meditation, basic meditation techniques such as observing the breath, mindfulness, and visualisation meditation. You will hear about the importance of analytical and stabilising meditation in promoting more insight into the thought and behaviour patterns of your daily life. Every day you will have an opportunity to have a practical experience of these meditations and discuss your experience.

The second three days will be totally dedicated to the actual meditation experience.

You will take back home with you a deeper knowledge of the practice of meditation, how to make it work for you.
